A girl shoulda use the time she has: So I am continuing the writing and add some collections of pictures in diverse subject.

Have to admit I can really count all the pictures done since starting with photography - esp. since I am not only do the panning Waves/Trees/Landscape but also wedding documentation (with almost 1.500 pictures per wedding).

Here once again a subject I really like to do but haven´t done as many pictures as I would have liked to have. Unfortunately and while I am honouring everybodies right of their own image I can´t publish all I would like to do. so this collection does mainly include family, friends, collegues and models.

Portugal & The Atlantic

People who know me, do know of my long and deep passion for water in all forms. Have been able to swim since the age of 4, have been an amateur athlete in canoeing in my teens, am still swimming when I have time and try to spend all my holidays along lakes, rivers and the sea, I wouldn´t deny being somehow crazy for the element of water.

Connecting the passion with photography thus comes quite naturally. In fact - starting with long time exposures of lakes and seas, I now somehow got hooked on panning waves. And Portugal - well the Atlantic ocean - is an interesting subjects - with huge waves illuminated by sun and great colours.

By the way: Panning in photography does have a long tradition to capture artistic impressions. As for panning water/waves it is the same. The most interesting about the results is: results are not controllable and you can get easily surprised by the outcome - negatively and positivily. There has been time you take about 200 picture and the outcome is "crap" and fill the Recycle Bin. But sometimes results can be great.

While the first days - well almost all days - have been dark and depressing, with a lot of snow, wind, unpassable streets, freezing temperatures the sun showed itself beautifully in the last days.

What else - beside earning money - to do than shooting icicles with sunlight during the golden hour and during twilight.

Portugal & Lisbon Beaches

Thanks to my dear friend Matilde (Check out her blog here) I have been able to travel to Portugal esp. the Lisbon area for 4 times now. As a fellow photographer and also passionate about the sea I have seen quite a lot beaches around Lisbon - and also some in the area around Porto.

This post will sum up some impressions you can get and also some recommendations for beaches who are really worth taking pictures.

First of all I have to say: Taking pictures of the Atlantic coastline of Portugal should be done during the Twilight of Sunset (yes - as a matter of fact sun sets in the West and you just get sea & backlight in the later hours of the day). So people who prefer shooting in the morning (like me prefering this light) should be aware of this. Also - and this is a serious fact: BEWARE OF THE WATER. The waves can be dangerous, not only during high tides. So - not only always check out which tide it is. Changes from low to high tide can  be photogenic because the rough incoming waves can be large and illuminated by the setting sun. But once again - beware of the waves. Even better - and in my mind much more interesting to shoot are the transition from high tide to low tide - for the time between the waves get larger as also the light reflecting area of a returning wave. If there are clouds and light even better, because this areas function like a calm lake surface and you are able to create some really dramatic pictures.

Light Reflexes on the Beach during Low tide (here at Magoito)
Reflexes, Praia do Magoito,

Besides the famous (esp. beyond surfers) beaches like Praia das Maçãs, Praia Grande, Praia da Adraga and the beaches around Ericeira IMO the places most to take pictures of - e.g.  most interesting are Praia do Magoito, Ursa and Azenhas do Mar.

Praia das Maçãs (the Apple Beach) as also Praia Grande are more sandy beaches mostly populated by surfers, tourists and the rich who is living in Cascais and enjoying life at the beach nearby. Both do have some nice dunes I unfortunately don´t have pictures of.

London Times (I) - Primrose Hill

Primrose Hill View

"The Best Decision" had been to choose a Hostel nearby Regent's Park and Hampstead Heath.

What a view you get in the eary morning hours when sun is rising above the Skyline of London and you are standing on Primrose Hill and watching it. But not just watching the sun is awesome, also enjoying the morning action of people walking around with cute and not-so-cute, litte till extra-tall dogs, people in all shapes and colours jogging and talking. What a great day to start a day in London. A definitely point on the MUST-DO-List for every London vistitor!

Highly commended ...

Finally time to really review all the pictures done this year. Can´t believe I didn´t find quality time to update my blog, but times were busy. And if there is light there is always a way to take pictures of.
